Beginning at the Franklin‑Hardin County line at a point approximately 1,000 feet east of the SW Corner Section 31‑T90N‑R20W, Franklin County (NW Corner Section 6‑T89N‑R20W, Hardin County); thence east along the Franklin‑Hardin County line following substantially the south section line of Sections 31, 32, and 33‑T90N‑R20W to a point near the SW Corner Section 34‑T90N‑R20W, Franklin County (NW Corner Section 3-T89N‑R20W, Hardin County) (north junction of US 20); thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 34, 27, 22, 15, 10, and 3‑T90N‑R20W and Sections 34, 27, 22, 15, 10, and 3‑T91N‑R20W to the south corporation line of Hampton connecting with 4th Street SE.

Hampton:

Beginning on 4th Street SE at the south corporation line; thence north on 4th Street SE to 4th Street NE; thence north on 4th Street NE to the north corporation line.

Beginning again at the north corporation line of Hampton connecting with 4th Street NE; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 22, 15, 10, and 3‑T92N‑R20W and Sections 34, 27, 22, and 15‑T93N‑R20W to the south corporation line of Sheffield connecting with an unnamed street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, US 65 in Franklin County should be deleted and the new description should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

US 65 begins at the Franklin‑Hardin County line approximately 10 miles west of Ackley and travels easterly and northerly via the Cities of Hampton and Sheffield to the Franklin‑Cerro Gordo County line in Sheffield, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate US 65 and its extensions in Franklin County as follows:

Beginning at the Franklin‑Hardin County line at a point approximately 1,000 feet east of the SW Corner Section 31‑T90N‑R20W, Franklin County (NW Corner Section 6‑T89N‑R20W, Hardin County); thence east along the Franklin‑Hardin County line following substantially the south section line of Sections 31, 32, and 33‑T90N‑R20W to a point near the SW Corner Section 34‑T90N‑R20W, Franklin County (NW Corner Section 3‑T89N‑R20W, Hardin County) (north junction of US 20); thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 34, 27, 22, 15, 10, and 3‑T90N-R20W and Sections 34, 27, 22, 15, 10, and 3‑T91N‑R20W to the south corporation line of the City of Hampton connecting with an unnamed street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of US 65 in Franklin County, Iowa.
